"CLOSED DOORS, BIG MIRACLES"

I love story about the widow who had lost her husband, and was also about to lose her two children due to debt that her family owed. In the midst of her troubles, she remembered a great man of God named Elisha who she knew God had used to do might things. She knew that she could go to him and he would help her in her time of need. When she encounters Elisha, he gives her specific instructions that completely changes her story. She from being a woman of lack, to a woman in great resources and more than enough to take care of her family.

In 2 Kings 4:3-7 it says “ Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.” So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. She came and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”

There are two things that I want to point out that are easily overlooked:

  1. Elisha didn’t tell her to get oil from the neighbors, just empty jars.

  2. It wasn’t until she shut the door behind herself that the miracle took place.

- Here comes the bang!

Closed doors, empty jars, failed businesses, strained relationships, failing marriages, empty bank accounts, and crushed plans does not mean that God can’t change and use your story today to bring about his next miracle!

Sometimes the doors that close are not to stop the flow of increase but rather, to stop the flow of bad influence, distractions, and deceitful opportunities. Don’t think about what you can’t do because of what you’ve lost, or don’t have. Think about what you do have!

“GOD, I WILL LOOK TO YOU! I KNOW WHERE MY HELP COMES FROM!”
